Studio 89

Mondays at 7:00pm

Studio 89 is a weekly live show featuring local, regional, and national acts performing live on the air and in front of a studio audience.  Past acts have included Los Lonely Boys, Tim Easton, The Seedy Seeds, and Ellis Paul.

Studio 89 takes place Monday nights at 7pm in the Digitorium of NKU's brand new Griffin Hall.  The Digitorium is a state of the art facility complete with opera box seating, professional lighting, and a 15' x 25' led video wall.  Once again, NKU's talented Electronic Media students will be recording it all to video for playback on Kentucky Educational Television and Insight Cable.

As in the past, seating is limited for Studio 89.  We will begin taking reservations from the general public on the Tuesday before each upcoming session.  Reservations will be accepted until noon on the preceding Friday.  If we receive more requests for reservations than we have seats, a lottery will be held and winners will be contacted via e-mail.

Tune in tonight for a Studio 89 finale with the legendary Bill Kirchen

The "Titan of the Telecaster", Bill Kirchen.

Bill Kirchen is one of the fortunate few who can step onto any stage, play those trademark licks that drove his seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten, and elicit instant recognition for a career that has spanned over 40 years and includes guitar work with Nick Lowe, Emmylou Harris, Doug Sahm, Elvis Costello and many more. Named “A Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Player Magazine, he celebrates an American musical tradition where rock 'n' roll and country music draws upon its origins in blues and bluegrass, Western swing from Texas and California honky-tonk.

He performs live on the air tonight at 7pm for the season finale of Studio 89.  Tell a friend and tune in!

Studio 89 Returns

Brooklyn's Julian Velard performs at this year's Studio 89
Rich Pushinsky /

Studio 89 - WNKU's weekly radio show featuring up and coming talent from around the country performing on air in front of a live studio audience - is back.   The show air live Monday nights at 7 pm through April 30th.

We have an outstanding lineup of artists for you this year.  As always, we've searched the country as well as our own back yard for some of the coolest veterans and hottest up and comers to the national and local scenes.  We're bringing in talent from as far away as Houston, TX and Brooklyn, NY.  We've got a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, a local Zydeco mainstay and, being that we're always open to having the occasional living legend, we're bringing in Bill Kirchen to close out the series.  Check out the entire lineup below.
