The City of Covington will be showcasing homes that have been rehabbed or rebuilt through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Spokesman Jeremy Wallace says they’ll be holding an “Open Homes Tour” this Thursday to show the community what has been accomplished. Wallace explained how the program works to WNKU’s Matt Kelley. The Browngrass Festival is coming to Rabbit-Hash Kentucky tomorrow. Organizer David Rhodes Brown says the eventshowcases local talent and bands from across the country all performing to benefit WNKU.  Brown says the hot weather and drought conditions make the name even more appropriate this year, but he told WNKU’s Matt Kelley the forecast looks great. There’s an “Age Wave” about to hit our region and the country. During the next three years all of the baby boomers will age fifty or older. Northern Kentucky Forum spokesman Tony Hyott says the organization’s next community dialogue session will address the needs and infrastructure that will have to be in place to serve an aging community. WNKU’s Matt Kelley asked Hyott how the numbers will add up and why we should be concerned.

The Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities is celebrating the graduation of nine more students from its “Bridges to Transition” program. Spokesman Kelly Hunter says the idea is to help participants gain the skills they’ll need to get a job. Hunter explained how “Bridges” works to WNKU’s Matt Kelley. The City of Waverly Ohio, in Pike County will be hosting the largest paranormal event in the state at the end of the month. Sharon Manson, the Director of the Pike County Visitors Bureau says the Past TV Network or, PTVN selected town in part because the Emmit House is located there. Three members of the NKU faculty are in San Diego this morning to present their research at the country’s largest comic book and pop-culture convention, Comic-Con International. Rich Schivener, Assistant Director of first year studies says the trio will talk about their use of a graphic novel as required reading for first year students. Shivener stopped by the WNKU studios to explain to our own Matt Kelley what the convention is about, and why they assigned “Kabuki; the Alchemy” to new students.

The Cincinnati Zoo and the Cincinnati Bengals are teaming up for conservation this season in celebration of the Zoo's new exhibit Cat Canyon.  Executive director Thayne Maynard talked to WNKU's Matt Kelley about the partnership and the tiger club naming contest they held for season ticket holders and zoo fans.( get more information at www.cincinnatizoo.org )

The NKU Center for Environmental Education is partnering with Vision 2015 and Covington Parks and Recreation to host a guided paddling tour on the Licking River on Saturday June 30th. Center spokesman Ed Wilcox says kayakers and canoe enthusiasts are invited to spend the morning learning about the Licking watershed and “greenway” projects while they enjoy a day on the water.

A man arrested at last week's “Party in the Park” in downtown Cincinnati is defending his actions as freedom of speech. Forest “T-Rex” Thomer says Cincinnati Police intervened during a publicity stunt for a wheelchair-bound comedienne. WNKU’s Matt Kelley asked Thomer what it was that he said that landed him in jail. River Sweep will be taking place this weekend along the banks of the entire length of the Ohio River and its’ tributaries. Spokesperson Jeanne Ison says it’s the largest environmental event of its kind, but she told WNKU’s Matt Kelley they’re still looking for volunteers to help out.
